Water-cooled bearings boost load and life

Changes made to the internal geometry of Cooper water-cooled continuous caster bearings have resulted in a 20% increase in static load capacity and a 50% increase in bearing life. This technical innovation has been achieved as a result of major investment in manufacturing capability. Installation of state of the art computer controlled machinery specifically for water-cooled bearings means Cooper can provide faster delivery and offer greater flexibility to meet customer's design requirements for their split to the shaft water-cooled bearings. Cooper now uses an integral process solution, which enables a dramatic reduction on previous machining time for this highly specialised product. Each batch of Cooper water-cooled continuous caster bearings is unique and is manufactured to meet individual customer specifications and mounting arrangements. This time consuming process previously required three machines to achieve the finished product. The process is now being completed by one machining centre in one time-efficient operation. Cooper can now offer a faster production turnaround on these highly specialised water-cooled bearings. Improved product and faster delivery enhances an already proven product that gives customers lower maintenance costs and greater production time.
