THK¡¯s New KR Actuators(Pic)

THK has combined its proven linear motion and ball screw technologies to produce the high performance range of KR actuators that offers excellent levels of accuracy and increased rigidity for industrial machinery, robotics and automation applications. Unlike conventional linear motion guides, the rigidity of the KR actuators is enhanced through the U-shaped outer rail which houses the LM Guide® inner block. The shape of the rail not only reduces its overall weight, but minimises any bending of the beam during operation, allowing the actuator to be used in suspended ¡°simply supported¡± formation as well as conventional mounting. The accuracy and small envelope of each actuator is enhanced as the ball screw runs longitudinally through the centre of the guides, which minimises the effect of pitching and yawing while optimising overall size. The raceways housing the LM Guide system within the KR actuators also contribute to overall strength, as they are shaped in a patented circular arc which ensures increased rigidity of actuator movement, while minimising friction and offering the highest capacity in its class. Consequently, a high level of accuracy can be achieved and performance standards maintained throughout actuation, irrespective of changes in load. The LM Guide tracks are arranged in two rows on each side to form a double-row two point circular arc contact construction which provides equal load ratings in four directions, radial, reverse radial and lateral, allowing the guide to be installed without any limitations on its position. In addition, with the ball guides positioned along both sides of the inner block, and the ball screw running through the centre of the LM Guide, the size of the actuator has been minimised, an ideal solution for use in restricted space environments. KR actuators are available in six sizes, from 15mm to 65mm in height, and in a choice of lengths. Normal, high and precision accuracies can be supplied, achieving repeatability of ¡À0.010mm, ¡À0.005mm and ¡À0.003mm respectively.
