Low Weight Transmission Develops High Power

At the EMO machine tool show in Hanover, Germany, Roschiwal + Partner Ingenieur presented an extremely low-weight high-performance transmission, developed to customer order in conformance with the specified installation space. The entire development process was accomplished at Roschiwal + Partner - from the very first ideas and concepts to the creation of all manufacturing documents. Strength and weight optimisa-tion was carried out for all components by means of FEM analysis. Despite its multiple functions, the transmission weighs only 9kg, with a power of 40kW. The transmission was conceived as a bevel/spur gear unit. For reasons of weight, all snug fits were designed as pressed adhesively-bonded joints. To minimise its dimensions, only straight-toothed gears were used, thus obtaining lower bearing forces. Technical data: * Power - P = 40kW. * Gear ratio - i = 5.9. * Input speed - 7500 rev/min.
