Lower Franconian President Dr. Paul Beinhofer presents OHRIS Certificate to FAG - New Management System for Enhanced Occupational Safety and Plant Security SCHWEINFURT, 21st July 2005. FAG Kugelfischer is one of the first companies in Lower Franconia to have introduced the ¡°Occupational Health and Risk Management System (OHRIS)¡± at its Schweinfurt location. Developed by the Bavarian Trade Supervisory Board in co-operation with industry and trade, this occupational safety management system strengthens the self-responsibility of enterprises and ensures significant cost reductions both for them and the state owing to less state control. At the same time occupational safety and thus employee protection is further improved. In a small ceremony at the FAG business club, Lower Franconian President Dr. Paul Beinhofer handed over the OHRIS certificate to FAG Human Resources Director Klaus Widmaier. Clearly pleased with the successful certification, Mr. Widmaier called it ¡°an important landmark in improving corporate culture¡±. Today¡¯s certificate presentation was the result of a development and preparation process that had lasted more than three years. OHRIS attaches increasing importance to company self-reliability and less government control. Executives and employees are involved in the evaluation of workplace dangers and have a direct influence on improvements. OHRIS structure and contents are based on international ISO 9001 quality standards and ISO 14001 environmental management standards. Essential elements of the so-called ILO guidelines, issued by the UN International Labor Organization, have also been included. ¡°Considering the Schaeffler Group¡¯s internationalization, OHRIS is of particular interest to us,¡± Mr. Widmaier wound up, explaining the company¡¯s commitment.
