Taiwan Bearing Exports Grow 20% in 2004
The Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry reported that country's exports of bearings, gears and ball screws (a combined category) grew rapidly in 2004 over 2003. Exports hit $435.53 million, up 20% over 2003's $362.44 million. Bearing exports were approximately $162 million in 2004, up more than 15% over 2003. The United Sates was Taiwan's largest consumer of bearings, importing almost $37 million worth of ball and roller bearings through the year. Taiwan's other key bearing customers were primarily in Hong Kong / China, although significant export went to Thailand, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Holland, Malaysia, and the UK.
