Tariff in General Will Down to 10.1% in 2005

According to Board of Trade, China will open all the industries that had promised in WTO from Jan 1 2005. The period from then to July 1 2006 will be regarded as a transitional time. And during this course, the tariff of imported goods or services will be reduced. The import tariff in general will be down to 10.1% from current 10.6%. Decreasing amplitude of tariff varies on different industries, for example, industry goods down from 9.8% to 9.3%; agriculture goods down from 15.8% to 15.5%; IT goods down to zero tariff; automobile down, at least, 20% from the current level; automobile spare parts down to 10%. So many nontariff measure like import quota, import license and import bid will be abolished in near future.
