SKF condition monitoring reporting for Shell's North Sea oil platforms
DEI, part of the SKF Group, will provide its "INSIGHT" web based condition monitoring reporting application on all of the Shell North Sea assets that are maintained by Sigma 3*. "INSIGHT" is a reliability systems tool that will provide Sigma 3 engineers and technicians with a highly visible summary of the health of plant and equipment, allowing any deterioration to be identified at an early stage. "Sigma 3 are delighted to see the implementation of this technology applied to the offshore environment, enabling faster results to identify possible equipment failures before they occur, "said Stuart Cordiner, the Head of Maintenance Projects at Sigma 3. "The early identification of machinery problems can be acted upon to prevent unexpected failures and hence unscheduled downtime". "Teamwork between DEI and Sigma 3 played a key role in enabling the effective implementation of the system," said Gary Benzie the DEI Team Leader responsible for the project. "INSIGHT" is a live system that is updated automatically on receipt of new data ensuring that the information available to Sigma 3 engineers is always up to date.
