SKF and Knorr-Bremse to Jointly Develop Specialized Technology to Monitor Railway Bogies SKF and Knorr-Bremse Systeme f¨¹r Schienenfahrzeuge GmbH have started a joint project to develop condition monitoring capability for rolling stock integrated in Knorr-Bremse´s brake control systems. The new monitoring system will add next generation functionality, enabling to remotely monitor and gather data from each bogie system - while the train is in full service on the track. As a result, the train operator or the service provider will be able to achieve early faulty detection of defects in order to avoid or reduce secondary damages through component failures. The new system enables the operator to introduce condition-based maintenance and reduce life cycle costs.
