Ex-Timken Executive Wyn McCoy Dies at 89

Ex-Timken Executive Wyn McCoy Dies at 89 Wyn E. McCoy, died Monday. McCoy, 89, a longtime North Canton resident, was living at Windsor Medical Center in North Canton when he died. A graduate of Ohio State University, McCoy joined the Timken Co. in 1940. After a series of promotions, he became vice president of engineering and research, the job he held when he retired in 1982. Ravi Bhati, vice president of engineering for the company, was hired by McCoy in the mid-1960s. "He gave his people a lot of responsibility and brought them along as fast as possible," Bhatia said in a prepared statement issued by the Canton-based steel producer and roller bearing manufacturer. After leaving Timken, McCoy became involved during the 1980s in advisory committees that analyzed and advised Canton and Stark County government operations. "He was a real community person," said Dennis Saunier, president and chief executive officer for the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. "He had the ability to lead a group of community, business and government leaders ,to look at efficiencies of city and county government. When you think about it, he was probably years ahead of his time."
