BSA 2007 Convention Set for May 4 - 8

BSA 2007 Convention Set for May 4 - 8 The Bearing Specialists Association 2007 Annual Convention is approaching, set for May 4 through 8. Most people go for the networking opportunities, formal and informal chances to meet and interact with industry associates otherwise unavailable to them. But there is much more on the schedule. One of the featured speakers will be former NCAA and NBA star Walter Bond. He is the author of All Buts Stink! How to Live Your Life and Eliminate Excuses. Mr. Bond's presentation is that the basic fundamentals of success are available to everyone. Everyone can release themselves from mediocrity and position themselves to reach their potential, free of excuses or "but"s. Another scheduled speaker is award-winning economist Dr. Ken Mayland, whose talk is titled, "State of the Economy." Dr. Mayland is President of ClearView Economics, specialists in economic research and forecasting. Veteran Chief Economist of both First Pennsylvania Bank and KeyCorp, he is an MIT alum, with an MA and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mayland has spent more than thirty years studying the business cycle and providing economic analyses to a variety of government, business, media, and general audiences. Eric Chester, who coined the term Generation Why and has continued to work extensively with them, will introduce you to your next generation of senior, talented employees with, "Meet Generation Why: Understanding, Managing, and Motivating Your New Workforce." Over 68 million Americans are 16 to 24, born between 1980 and 1994, and for more than a decade, he has been working extensively with this generation and has personally addressed over 2 million Gen Why youth through his motivational programs. Chester's conclusions note that members of this generation do not see things the way their predecessors do; they cannot be recruited, trained, managed, or motivated using the same old strategies and methods. Convention attendees will come away with a competitive advantage in learning to attract and retain the most talented young workers. The BSA convention also continues to offer distributors the opportunity to host tables at the traditional Conference Tables Session. These tables will offer three 20-minute meetings from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. The more familiar arrangement, where manufacturers host a table, will follow with 20-minute appointments for distributors. Adding distributor tables, said the BSA, supports a key element of the organization's Strategic Plan: to promote networking among authorized distributors and invited manufacturers. Distributor tables are included in BSA's online conference table signup system. BSA says it is the "must belong-to organization for authorized bearing distributors." It is an international service and educational organization, representing nearly 100 distributors representing factory-warranted ball and roller and other antifriction bearings. Also included in BSA membership are invited manufacturers of bearings and related products. The BSA's mission statement says it is to be , "the forum to enhance networking and knowledge, sharing and promoting the sale of bearings through authorized distributors."
