SKF Hosted Gothia Cup in Kwazulu Natal(Pic) A free trip to Sweden for the whole soccer team and participation in the world's biggest football tournament, Gothia Cup - this is the prize for the winning football team! Swedish multi-national, SKF, headquartered in Gothenburg and world leader in bearing technology, has made this possible by organising the local football tournament ¡®Meet the World' in Kwazulu Natal with the assistance of South Africa's Star Schools. Gothia Cup, the world's biggest tournament for boys and girls, has been played in Sweden every July for the past 30 years and attracts 1500 teams from 60 countries. In 2006 SKF decided to become the main partner of Gothia Cup for the next 3 years. The goal of the tournament is to create a meeting place for children across the world, regardless of culture, age, social background or nationality. To include local teams in this tournament, SKF South Africa joined forces with the Star Schools to host the ¡®Meet the World' Tournament in Kwazulu Natal. The Star Schools were developed to give children, facing the harsh reality of HIV/Aids, a genuine hope and belief in the future. With the vision that, regardless of how difficult and tough reality is, all changes start with a dream, it is the Star Schools' dream to greatly reduce the number of students who become HIV-positive and to inspire them with hope and courage to keep on working and studying. The 2007 ¡®Meet the World' Tournament kicked off in February and includes 24 Star School Soccer Teams, divided into four regions. The teams will be competing against each other over a period of two months, with the winners of each region participating in the Quarter Finals. The final game will be played in April 2007 and the winning team will walk away with the all-expenses paid trip to the July Gothia Cup in Sweden, courtesy of SKF.
