RBC Tyson Bearings Will Shut After 42 Years

RBC Tyson Bearings will shut its doors for good on March 6. The company, which produces tapered roller bearings for the truck market, opened in Glasgow in 1965. "With the economy the way it is and foreign competition the way it is, we can't compete with the Chinese," said human resources manager Linda Hester. "We've been feeling those effects for some time now." The plant's 83 employees were notified of the closing on Thursday. Hester said the announcement did not come as a surprise. "Our employees are very knowledgeable and they understand how the business works," Hester said. "They see what the production quotas are and how orders are slowing down." Rather than try to relocate the plant, the company decided to close the plant for good.
