NTN Developed World's Smallest Tapered Roller Bearing(Pic)

NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) has developed the world smallest tapered roller bearing, having a bore of only 5mm. Miniature ball bearings are commonly used in today's market as rolling bearings with a bore as small as 5mm. However, insufficient life and rigidity of these bearings has been an issue under heavy loading conditions. In response to this, NTN has developed tapered roller bearings with high load carrying capacity and rigidity, which enables longer life and compact design, to replace ball bearings with 5mm bores. The newly developed bearings are to be used in a variety of applications, such as gearbox support bearings. These bearings will usually be pre-loaded and carry relatively heavy loads. Need for this new bearing is expected to increase due to the smaller size and higher load requirements seen in recent trends.
