PT SKF Indonesia Has Started the Expansion Project

PT SKF Indonesia, which is certified by ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, was established on September 9th 1986. This company is subsidiary of SKF AB SWEDEN incorporated with PT Astra Otoparts, Tbk as the local partner. Along with the growth of automotive industry, especially for motorcycle, PT SKF Indonesia committed to fulfill the national needs, and prepare for expanding its export volume in year 2007 to ASEAN countries. To achieve this goal, PT SKF Indonesia has started the expansion project (Jakarta Double Capacity) since October 2005, which is adding new building and production facilities. This project consists of adding the new 20.000-m2 manufacturing facilities from its existing 8.000-m2 facilities. The total production capacity will increase up to 78 million pcs per year. This project also will absorb 160 more employees. The master plan of Jakarta Double Capacity project consist of adding new 8 production channel areas, production utility, general utility, heat treatment, face and OD grinders, warehouse, and others support facilities. Started on May 24th 2006, this project has completed new 12.000 m2 manufacturing facilities. These new facilities are ready for 8 new production channels as planed. For the production channels, the first phase consist of installing 2 channels, one full set of heat treatment, one full set of face and OD grinders, central filtration, quality equipment, two set of central washing, 2 set of compressor, 3 set of cooler, industrial waste treatment, generator set and transformator, and also IT equipment. All these facilities are officially operated since 5 December 2006. Regarding to the environmental concern, PT. SKF Indonesia is fully committed to the green company issue and had proved its consistency in creating save and friendly environments through certification of ISO 14001. For the future, we hope that there will be knowledge transfer process in these facilities, aligning with SKF mission, which is to become Knowledge Engineering Company, along with the increasing of production capacity to fulfill the market needs for the next 5 years.
