Timken-Sponsored Team Rahal Wins at Montreal
CANTON, Ohio, -- Team Rahal driver Michel Jourdain, Jr. captured the checkered flag yesterday to post his second win of the 2003 season at the Molson Indy Montreal. Currently third in the Champ Car World Series Championship, Jourdain started fourth and struck the perfect balance between fuel mileage and race pace en route to Team Rahal's first ever win in Canada. The win is Team Rahal's 16th Champ Car victory. "This is a great day for Team Rahal," said Jourdain. "The car was perfect yesterday, and the crew gave me some of the best pit stops of the season. We knew before the race that fuel mileage would be critical. I was able to save some fuel drafting off of the other cars early in the race. Once I got the lead, I ran as hard as I could." The Timken Company has been a partner with Team Rahal since 1998, serving as an associate and technical sponsor for the Hilliard, Ohio-based Champ Car team. The Timken Company uses motorsports to prove new technologies on the racetrack. Timken(R) bearings are used in numerous racing applications, including wheels, axles, gearboxes and differentials. Timken(R) steel and precision components can be found in crankshafts, camshafts, gears, shock absorbers, brakes and engines. Team Rahal is a franchise member of Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART). Co-owned by three-time CART Champion Bobby Rahal and CBS LATE SHOW host David Letterman, the team currently fields a single-car effort in CART for Michel Jourdain Jr. as well as an entry for 1999 Indy 500 winner and 1998 Indy Racing League champion Kenny Brack in the IRL.
