New Condition Monitoring on Line System(Pic)

New Condition Monitoring on Line System Operations and maintenance personnel in machine tool operations can now minimize unplanned downtime, unwanted production stoppages and limit crash damage by installing the SKF Multilog® On-line System ¨C TMU. By monitoring both machine process and conditions with one device, SKF provides a single solution to two very critical tasks. Using up to three permanently installed sensors, the Multilog TMU system automatically collects vibration data and/or temperature readings on critical assets such as machine tool spindles. Alarms warn of developing mechanical problems such as bearing damage, misalignment, imbalance and improper lubrication well in advance of catastrophic damage to the machine. If improper operating conditions do lead to a collision, the crash protection feature can be used in conjunction with the control system to prevent secondary damage. The Multilog TMU operates with SKF Machine Suite software. This flexible, modular software provides specific benefits to Operations and Maintenance and integrates seamlessly into plant-wide reliability programs such as Preventive Maintenance and Operator Driven Reliability. The software provides Operations with information required to make minor adjustments when a problem is detected. Machine Suite gives Maintenance advance notice to plan for corrective action during a scheduled stoppage and even advises what corrective actions are required.
