Schaeffler Group Present A Wide Range of Innovative Bearings
At the METAV trade show, which took place in Dusseldorf from 20 to 24 June 2006, Schaeffler Group Industrial presented a wide range of innovative bearings and direct drives for production machines. ¡°With our brands INA, FAG and IDAM we are in a position to offer not only the widest but also the most intelligent solutions from one single source,¡± Martin Schreiber, Application Engineering Manager of the Production Machinery sector, told the technical press. ¡°In bearing development we take the entire production machinery system into account. Only in this way is it possible to significantly enhance the machine¡¯s reliability and efficiency.¡± Mr. Schreiber pointed out that today¡¯s production machine manufacturers sell more than just plain machines but rather productivity, volume and manufacturing costs. As a competent supplier, Schaeffler Group Industrial responds to these customer requirements by providing solutions that represent far more than individual components. The products are matched to their specific system application as well as to the customer¡¯s systems and include important and comprehensive integrated functions such as measuring, sealing, lubricating and braking options. The reduction of interfaces results in higher reliability, reduced design space, easier mounting and a greater number of maintenance-free components. Based on the company¡¯s ¡°added competence¡± concept, which was also chosen as the motto for the METAV trade fair, this makes production machines more compact and efficient and increases their reliability and profitability. Demanding solutions In D¨¹sseldorf, the Schaeffler Production Machinery sector showed that it lives up to this claim by presenting innovative solutions and related services for all kinds of bearing supports. These include ready-to-mount, spring loaded spindle bearing units and a precisely adjusted product range for ball screw supports. Further elements are the coating kit for corrosion and wear protection and the Bearinx calculation software which was developed for the entire machine tool as well as application-specific linear guide components which enable clearly improved machine performance even in terms of damping and maintenance. Direct drives The Schaeffler subsidiary INA ¨C Drives & Mechatronics (IDAM) showed particularly demanding systems, including its wide range of direct drives for rotary tables and linear axes. Examples of rotary direct drives are RI internal rotor motors and RE external rotor motors. Both types were designed as built-in motors and therefore offer an optimum drive basis for rotary positioning systems and rotary tables. They are manufactured to order in customized sizes and thus are suitable for use in a wide range of different applications, among others in milling heads, rotary tables or slewing drives of machine tools. Linear technology Profile rail guides for all kinds of applications were presented by Schaeffler¡¯s Linear Technology division. RUE 100 E-L roller type profiled rail units, for example, are ideally suitable for use in large-dimension, highly efficient machine tools as well as in presses. Their static load carrying capacity amounts to 149 and their dynamic load capacity to 63 tons. Nevertheless they have a compact design so that, apart from the required mounting faces, there is no need to take account of any special data for integration in the machine structure. KUVE..B KT ball monorail guidance systems, too, meet special customer requirements such as high load carrying capacity, dynamics, rigidity, ruggedness and low noise operation as well as functional reliability and safety. Calculation software The Schaeffler Group¡¯s Bearinx® software is one of the leading rolling bearing calculation programs. It enables the detailed analysis of bearing supports ¨C from individual bearings through to complex shaft systems. The latest version has been com-plemented by a special spindle calculation module. In addition, the functional scope of Bearinx® with regard to the influences of centrifugal forces on the load distribution and cycling behavior of rolling elements in angular contact ball bearings has been extended.
