Timken Lands $6M Order From Tokyo Company

Timken Co. (NYSE: TKR) has received a $6 million order from a Tokyo-based drilling tool manufacturer and distributor. The Canton-based maker of steel and ball bearings will supply Julong PetroMaterials Inc. with seamless tubes for drill collars, which are the heavy tubular connectors between a drill bit and a drill pipe. "Drill collars do the dirty work in a drill string where the environments are really harsh, and few mills are able to produce these long tubes needed for this application,¡± said Jeff Hoerr, director of international alloy steel sales and marketing for Timken in China, in a statement. A message left at Timken was not immediately returned.
