SNI Introduces Ultra Precision Grinders

Service Network Inc. (SNI, USA) has introduced new versions of its popular 200, 400 and 600 ID/OD grinders, offering higher precision. The grinders, in "ultra" precision specification, offer sub-micron accuracy -- including certification by an independent testing laboratory. SNI manufactures high precision ID and OD grinding machines, primarily for the bearing industry but also used to manufacture automotive, aerospace and industrial components. SNI is North America's largest manufacturer of new high production ID and OD grinders. The Ultra specification's sub-micron mirror-finish precision puts it in the territory of so-called "exotic" grinding applications, targeting highly specialized bearing manufacturers, aerospace and defense suppliers. Currently, submicron profile grinding in the bearing industry is dominated by Japanese, Swiss and German equipment, along with Landis (now Groupe Fives-Lille), UGT/Studer, Cevalier and Cincinnati Milacron in the U.S., and a wide array of in-house solutions and retrofits. Founded in 1984, SNI's first direction was strictly to rebuild and remanufacture Heald Machine Company grinders. Heald grinders have been so ubiquitous across the bearing industry that grinding departments were often called Heald departments. SNI has evolved over the years from the Heald business, which it still does, to manufacturing its own line of grinders.
