Motion Controller Use Can Be Upgraded At Show
Visitors to the UK's Product Development 2006 can save GBP 100 when they upgrade their existing 3Dconnexion motion controller to an intelligent SpacePilot. 3Dconnexion's range of 3D motion controllers will be on show at Product Development 2006 (formally Solid Modelling). It is a year since 3Dconnexion launched its intelligent SpacePilot controller. As part of an ongoing service initiative, users of any of 3Dconnexion's range of controllers including all versions of SpaceBall, SpaceMouse, Cadman and SpaceTraveler can upgrade to a SpacePilot for just GBP 219. This special discount is designed to recognise the investment 3Dconnexion customers have made in the company's controllers and allows them to take advantage of next generation technology at a lower cost. The SpacePilot couples superior 3D motion control with an array of function keys powered by breakthrough adaptive sensing technology. Good news for autodesk inventor and UGS NX users is that with the latest drivers the SpacePilot now automatically adapts to more than 21 environments within Inventor and 16 environments within NX software. The adaptive sensing technology also supports Pro/E, SolidWorks, Solid Edge and COSMOSDesignSTAR. 3Dconnexion has also announced UNIX/Linux support for SpacePilot. The new driver supports HP-UX 11.0 or higher, IBM AIX 5.2 or higher, Solaris 9/04 or higher (SPARC-based systems), as well as Red Hat EL WS 3 and SuSE 9.2 and applications including CATIA, NX and Pro/E. The SpacePilot upgrade programme applies to all old serial controllers, so when customers update their UNIX/Linux workstation they can upgrade their controller at the same time.
