Counterfeit Bearings Seized in Vietnam

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City recently seized several tons of counterfeit 2-wheeler and automotive replacement parts, including bearings. Counterfeit automotive and motorbike parts have become an increasingly serious problem throughout Asia, with a surge in counterfeit safety-related components. In this case, the business owners were arrested and confessed to bringing the parts -- including thousands of counterfeit Nachi bearings -- from northern Vietnam. Sources told that the counterfeit bearings seized were manufactured in other countries, smuggled into northern Vietnam, then sold to the operator in Ho Chi Minh City. There, the bearings were boxed in counterfeit Nachi packaging, labeled as needed, then shipped to industrial businesses, 2-wheeler and automotive parts distributors, and end customers.
